Criminologist and sociologist. I work in investigative profiling, juvenile justice, penal mediation and training on deviance, bullying and gender-based violence.
I'm Lorena Porcu, a criminologist and sociologist. I study criminal behaviour and the contexts that make it possible, with a clear goal: to understand in order to prevent and intervene — without sensationalism and without judgement.
I support institutions, schools, professionals and private clients with consultancy and training on profiling, juvenile justice, penal mediation, bullying and gender-based violence.
Education
A degree in Applied Social Sciences with a criminology focus from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, and a Master's in Criminology. A background that combines the social reading of phenomena with an understanding of criminal behaviour and the contexts of deviance.
What I do
My work moves across several interconnected levels:
- Investigative profiling: behavioural analysis in support of investigations.
- Juvenile justice and probation for minors: pathways of accountability and rehabilitation.
- Penal mediation: conflict management and restorative justice.
- Consultancy under Art. 80 of the Italian Prison Act: criminological support in the prison context.
- Teaching and training: deviance, bullying, cyberbullying, violence against women.
Why this blog
Criminology is often told in a sensationalist way. Here I take the opposite path: rigorous explanation, grounded in data and experience, in clear and never judgemental language. The aim is to offer tools to understand these phenomena, not to turn them into spectacle.
